So I thought it was a good idea to post a new Russian word every day

поспать - 1.to take a nap 2.to sleep

examples :Я немного поспал (I took a short nap). Ну как вы поспали сегодня? (How did you sleep today?)

переспать - 1. to sleep for too long(more than necessary) 2. to have sex with somebody

examples Я переспал и сейчас все еще сонный (I slept too much and I'm still sleepy). Она переспала с его братом ( She had sex with his brother).

проспать - to oversleep

examples : Извините, я проспал и поэтому опоздал (I'm sorry I overslept and that's why I'm late).

Expressions:
уложить спать - to put to bed

уснуть = заснуть - to fall asleep
проснуться - to wake up (imperfective form - просыпаться)
