So , form now on , some interactivity is about to occur here , not a monologue. :)
May I start?
About east ans west lots of arguments are possible.
We can divide the question in two different moments: Before the internet and after the internet. Before , the division were more bearable , now not so much. The world is becoming a "big tribe" ,ultraconected , cultures are mixing.
Entities like Soviet union ,China and North Corea (the latter can contradict my theory...) so locked , closed , only were possible because of absence of internet.
